THESIS
my senior thesis COME BACK SOON is focused on abandonment, how it has shown up in and affected my life, the shapes it has taken and the feelings it has triggered for me, and abandoned places, textures and items i have found myself drawn to and resonating with. it is set to be completed in may 2026. for each look, i am focusing in on a different emotion associated with abandonment and a location that aligns with it. as someone who was introduced to art through painting, collage, mixed media, and other forms of fine art, i am combining these interests of mine with my love for fashion to create five one-of-a-kind, dimensional women’s couture looks.
this first look is inspired by the explosive anger i’ve experienced after being left behind as well as imagery and textures from the abandoned city of pripyat, ukraine. the city was evacuated due to radiation from the chernobyl disaster on april 27th, 1986, with citizens being told they would soon be able to return safely. the city is still abandoned to this day, and its once new, modern buildings have become stained with rust and decay. this look is still in progress along with the other four looks in the collection, and i will continue updating this page as the collection progresses. below is a collection of images from my process book for this first look as well as what it looks like at this point.
